Individual income tax filing season begins on Monday, January 29, 2024, with the Minnesota Department of Revenue. This is the day that the Internal Revenue Service opens. Monday, April 15, 2024, is the deadline for filing the 2023 MN Tax Rebate 2024. 

MN Tax Rebate 2024:

The Minnesota Department of Revenue has announced that the state’s Individual Income Tax filing season will begin on Monday, January 29, 2024. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) opened for operation on this day. Minnesota’s income tax returns for 2023 are due on May 15, 2024.  It is the same day as the federal income tax filing deadline, 2024.

Before the IRS and state systems open on January 29, tax software companies and tax professionals will have begun to receive and prepare tax returns. They will then submit the Minnesota Tax Rebate 2024. The revenue commissioner, Paul Marquart, stated that hundreds of thousands of Minnesota families would find this filing season critical following the Minnesota Child Tax Credit implementation. 

Who does not qualify for the MN Tax Rebate 2024? 

You must have been a Minnesota resident in 2021 to get the total amount of the 2024 Minnesota rebate cheques based on the 2021 tax year. Part-year residents may receive a partial refund. In addition, if you were classified as dependent on a 2021 tax return, you will not be eligible for the refund payment. Alternatively, a $260 fee may be sent to the individual who claimed you as a dependent in 2021.

What if I did not receive my Rebate Cheque?

The Minnesota Department of Revenue encourages taxpayers who did not receive a cheque to confirm the qualifying circumstances. If you are a taxpayer who meets the qualifications but did not get a cheque, contact [email protected] or phone (651) 565-6595.

  • Individuals who filed alone and earned up to $75,000 received $260. 
  • Joint filers who earned up to $150,000 received $520.

Dependent children can also get one-time Minnesota surplus payments. The Act allows families to receive an additional $260 for each dependent.
