Everything You Need to Know About the NSFAS Payment Schedule for 2024

NSFAS pays allowances to students to assist their top-notch education. The first week of each month is when applicants receive their NSFAS allowance payment; please refer to the cycle-wise payment dates below.

NSFAS 2024 Payment Schedule:

The NSFAS provides bursaries to students from low-income and working-class families. Beyond fees, NSFAS funding gives students NSFAS allowances to help with additional educational costs.

  • First Semester; First Cycle. Date of Payment: February 06, 2024
  • First semester, Second cycle, First semester: 06 March 2024; Third semester: 03 April 2024; Fourth semester: 4(Cycle); First semester: 02 May 2024; Fifth semester: 5(Cycle); Second semester: 05 June 2024 (Monday); Sixth semester: 6(Cycle), July 3, 2024 (Medical School) Second Semester, June 6, 2024, July 7, 2024 (Every Campus)
    Fifth (Semester), Seventh (Semester), Eighth (Semester), Ninth (Semester), Second (Semester), 02 October 2024 Second (Semester), Tenth (Semester), and Sixth November 2024 (Final payment for 2024).
  • For these monthly NSFAS allowance payments, the Department says that “monthly installments will be issued at the beginning of every month.”

Dates of NSFAS Payment to TVET Colleges:

The NSFAS was established in South Africa in 1996 to assist students from low-income households who cannot pay for their higher education through bank funding or traditional loans.

Boland College, College of Cape Town, Coastal KZN College, and Central Johannesburg College are the TVET institutions that will be awarded NSFAS bursaries. The NSFAS payment dates for TVET colleges are indicated in the above table. All of the payment dates, as well as other details, are included in the table above.

How much Money does NSFAS Provide you?

Students can obtain information on housing allowances, food allowances, and stationery perks from NSFAS below.

Academic institutions:

  1. The actual costs borne by the university for off-campus accommodation cannot exceed those for private housing.
  2. Up to 40 kilometers of yearly transportation from the educational institution are charged R7 500.
  3. A living allowance of R15,000 per month
  4. A R5,200 annual book allowance
  5. Students living in catered residences get a yearly personal care allowance of R2900.

TVET:

  1. In an urban setting, hotel expenses amount to R24,000 per year.
  2. A peri-urban location’s annual accommodation costs R18,900.
  3. In remote areas, accommodation costs R15,750 per year.
  4. A maximum of forty kilometers’ worth of transportation from the facility costs R7,350 annually.
  5. Carry R7,000 per year.
  6. R2,900 is the annual personal care payment.

How can I Apply for Payments from NSFAS?

You can register online at nsfas.org.za. Application procedures for NSFA payments should be followed.

  1. To submit an online application, go to www.nsfas.org.za.
  2. “myNSFAS” may be selected from the menu bar.
  3. Apply by entering your password and ID number to log in.
  4. Register with myNSFAS.
  5. Applying will be simpler if you are aware of your Student ID number.
  6. Once you have selected the APPLY tab, complete all the needed fields.
  7. Upload the necessary files.
  8. Clicking “Submit” will send your application for evaluation, which is the last step.

Qualification for the NSFAS 2024:

Candidates must meet the prerequisites listed below:

  • Candidates have to be citizens of South Africa.
  • Since NSFAS does not fund private colleges, enrollment at a public university or TVET college is required.
  • A SASSA award must have been given to you.
  • The annual family income of applicants must not surpass R350 000 to qualify.
  • A disabled person’s household income must be more than R600,000 to qualify.
  • Candidates must have begun their studies before 2018 and come from low-income households with an annual income of less than R122,000.
