Elderly Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Houston!
Houston police have identified a suspect accused of robbing an elderly woman at gunpoint in her garage last month. Authorities are currently seeking 20-year-old Michael Coates, who is being charged with committing aggravated robbery against an elderly individual.
In the robbery, Coates allegedly approached the 72-year-old elderly woman in west Houston, pointed a handgun at her, and demanded her car keys. He then pointed the gun at her 75-year-old husband and repeated his demand for the keys. Coates then entered the couple’s home, grabbed the keys to their BMW sedan, and sped off.

According to Fox News, the following day, authorities found the car near an apartment complex about six miles from where the couple lived. After releasing the video footage of the robbery, detectives received a tip that led to the identification of Michael Coates as the suspect and the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Unfortunately, this robbery is just one of a disturbing series of robberies that have taken place in Houston in recent months.
During January, a different Houston resident was targeted by two perpetrators who trailed him to his residence and then accosted him in his garage using a firearm, demanding that he relinquish the keys to his car. The victim surrendered a bag containing the keys to one of the perpetrators, who immediately fled the scene, foiling the other accomplice’s attempt to steal the car.
In February, two teens followed a woman from a bank after she had withdrawn $4,300 in cash for a trip to see family in Vietnam. Once she got out of her car, one of the teens allegedly approached her, demanded the money, then bodyslammed her onto the concrete, leaving the victim paralyzed. In relation to that incident, Harrell and 19-year-old Zy’Nika Ayesha Woods were taken into custody on Friday.
