The Spratly Islands are specifically described in the Pentagon’s annual China Military Power Report, released in November. China isn’t scaling back its presence or building up its buildup, further complicating one of the world’s busiest regions.
The Southern Theater Command, one of China’s largest and most significant theater commands, is in charge of Chinese military activities in the South China Sea.
The map also shows the approximate locations of 63 other outposts in the Spratly Islands as well as seven Chinese outposts, including three airfields. These outposts can support military activities, according to the Pentagon.
According to the assessment, Chinese-controlled outposts have the most advanced land-based weaponry currently in use by any claimant in the disputed South China Sea, including missiles and other weapon systems.

Pentagon: China, Russia are Threat to World Peace
The 63-page Integrated Review policy paper, released on Monday, sharpens the UK’s language and stance toward Beijing and Moscow. It emphasizes the systemic and imminent threat that both nations offer to the UK, Europe, and the larger rules-based international order.
The UK emphasizes the difficulties China faced, its alliance with Russia, and Moscow’s expanding coordination with Iran. Russia was already listed as the top security danger to the UK in the UK review for 2021.
On Tuesday, in response to the UK allegations, Chinese official media issued a warning that the continued exaggeration of China’s threat by Britain would be detrimental to bilateral relations.
For the UK, it is worrisome that Beijing has opted to maintain its close ties with Russia in spite of Moscow’s aggression against Ukraine. China continues to violate international human rights treaties with some nations. The UK must now and in the future spend more on defense and national security.
