Gwinnett County Police found Former Doraville police officer, Miles Bryant, guilty of kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old Susanna Morales, whose remains were discovered in a wooded area.
According to Fox News, Morales’ family had reported her missing in July after she failed to return home. She texted her mother at 9:40 pm on July 26, telling her she was on her way home.
An app on Morales’ cell phone confirmed she was walking in the direction of her home between 10:07 pm and 10:21 pm. But detectives believe she may have instead entered a vehicle. Her phone pinged between 10:21 pm and 10:26 pm that night before it either died or was turned off. Detectives suspect she may have died between 10 pm that night and 2 am on July 27.

The Gwinnett County Police have released the police report filed by Bryant the day after Morales went missing, alleging that someone stole his handgun, military ID, wallet, and debit cards from the apartment complex where he was working as a courtesy officer. However, investigators found the handgun in the same area where Morales’ remains were discovered. The police do not believe Bryant fired the gun during his encounter with Morales, but they do not know if he used it to force her to go with him.
The Georgia National Guard has begun to discharge Bryant from his military service following his kidnapping and murder charges. The Gwinnett County Police Chief has upgraded Bryant’s charges to felony murder and kidnapping. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that the human remains found in the forest belonged to Morales.
The Gwinnett County Police have been working hard to investigate and solve this case. Bryant has been accused of killing Morales before dumping her naked body in the forest. He has not been charged with raping Morales, but officials say there is a possibility she was sexually assaulted.
He is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Adult Detention Center on charges of concealing the death of another, filing a false report of a crime, murder, and kidnapping.
