The findings, which were released on Monday, are based on data gathered from more than 11,000 adults in the US over 25 years. The participants went to the doctor for the first time between the ages of 45 and 66, and then they went back for follow-up appointments between the ages of 70 and 90.

It was discovered that, compared to adults with blood sodium levels in the medium range, those with serum sodium levels at the higher end of a normal range were more likely to acquire chronic diseases and exhibit signs of advanced biological aging. Adults with higher levels had an increased risk of passing away earlier.
