Ohio Highway Tragedy: 46 Vehicle Crashes, Leaves Several Injured, 4 Dead

Ohio encounters a tragic event on the highway amidst the festive season. Last Friday, around 46 vehicles crashed into each other in Erie County of the state. The piled-up vehicles consisted of both commercial trucks and personal cars. It was a toll road that was totally shut down due to the crash. It was reoperated 12 hours after the accident.

Two casualties were reported along with several injured people. The heavy snowfall has been a hindrance in transportation however, the authorities have asked common people to follow more safety while driving from now on.

Disastrous accident on Ohio highway

On Friday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol inspected a huge accident that took place between 46 vehicles in the eastbound Turnpike lanes of State Route 53 and State Route 4 in Sandusky County. The vehicles piled up on the highway and reached Erie County.

To address the accident, crew members of the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department were deployed. The accident marked two deaths and severe injuries to many people. However, the exact number of injured people has not been revealed yet.

As per the reports, officials used buses to rescue the affected people in the accident. They were provided with urgent medical facilities. The identity of the deceased individuals has not been known. At least 15 commercial trucks were recovered from the pile of vehicles. The investigation of the dreadful crash is still going on.

Authorities’ statement on the tragic accident in Ohio

Ohio State Highway Patrol have condemned the severe weather condition for the accident. Sgt. Purpura of the state highway patrol has stated that the weather is not at all convenient for traveling. The white-out situations are making transportation worse.
