Texas Oil Exportation Project Gets Government Approval

Texas

The Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration has reportedly given its green light for constructing an oil export terminal on the Gulf Coast of Texas.

But, the associated authorities did not officially announce the matter. It is worth noting that a prominent non-profit organization Earthworks witnessed the official approval papers released by the Biden administration.

This decision was taken a day after the conclusion of the annual climate conference held in Egypt. Several environmental activities oppose this decision since it will further contribute to the depletion of fossil fuels and add to the soaring pollution levels.

Kelsey Crane, the senior policy advocate of Earthworks was quoted saying that it is ironic that Biden raised his concerns about growing pollution levels and spoke about combatting climate change at the annual climate conference while giving approval to this project which will lead to further depletion of natural resources.

The oil export terminal in Texas is expected to add over 2 million barrels per day to the U.S. present oil export volume.

Maritime Administration’s Take on The Decision

The Maritime Administration has defended its decision and has backed this decision by stating that the upcoming oil export terminal in Texas by stating that it will add to the economic growth of the nation.

It further asserted that this construction project would create ample employment opportunities, including 62 permanent jobs and 1,400 temporary ones.  Besides, this decision will enhance maritime trade activities while improving the country’s energy infrastructure.

But the concerned authorities have refused to comment on the construction timeline of the oil export terminal in Texas.
