19-Year-Old Miya Marcano’s Body Found Near Orange County, Florida

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced that a body, which they believe to be Miya Marcano, a 19-year-old college student missing for more than a week, was discovered Saturday morning.

Macarno, a student at Valencia College in Orlando, was last seen at her apartment complex at the Arden Villas Luxury Apartments on Sept. 24, reported Forbes. Since then, authorities had been searching for her.

On Saturday, as authorities looked around the Tymber Skan apartments in Orange County, Florida, they discovered a body in a wooded area nearby. According to Sheriff John Mina, they believe it to be that of Miya Marcano. A purse with the 17-year-old’s identification was also found near the body.

“Although we are very certain of the identity, the positive identification will have to come from the medical examiner’s office. At this time, we cannot confirm a cause of death,” Mina said.

According to Mina, the family has been informed regarding the discovery of the body, which was found about 10:45 AM Saturday.

Police Searched The Area Based On Prime’s Suspect Phone Records

Police were prompted to search the Tymber Skan apartments after looking into the cellphone records of the prime suspect, Armando Cabellero, 27, a maintenance worker at Arden Villas.

Phone records reveal that Caballero was near Tymber Skan apartments the same day Marcano went missing, which according to Mina, the prime suspect, lived in at one time.

Cabellero, who authorities said had expressed romantic interest over Marcano, had a key fob to access apartments, and he was used at the victim’s unit just before she disappeared. He was found dead on Monday from an apparent suicide.

Authorities Believe Cabellero Did The Crime Alone

“We are not looking for any other people,” Mina said. “We believe Armando Caballero is solely responsible for this crime.”

“This is not the update I wanted to give everyone,” Mina added. “Our hearts are broken. Everyone wanted this outcome to be different.”

The next steps following the discovery of the body “will focus a lot on the autopsy” and in completing the timeline of events in the case, Mina told reporters.

He also said that he is confident authorities will piece together a complete understanding of what happened.
